One cool Ace

Since having photographed a number of Katie’s siblings on multiple occasions and having met her once, I kept my invitation to shoot fairly casual. It essentially went like this:

"Katie, let's shoot!"

"Matt, I'd love to!"

And then I pretty much invited myself over to her place.

As the guitarist for the band The Aces, Katie’s schedule is typically pretty busy — splitting her time between California and Utah as well being out on tour — but luckily, thanks to the pandemic, we were able to find some time to get together, earlier this year.

I told her that I had a few basic ideas of what I’d like to do but that, if she was cool with it, I would just come over, set up a makeshift studio in her kitchen, and then see where the shoot took us.

Glad she was cool with it.
